Slater’s 50/50 Backyard Brewfest to Fight Childhood Cancer – A Photographer’s Look

Saturday April 6th the parking lot of Slater’s 50/50 Lake Forest was transformed into a beer and food lovers paradise, and we were lucky enough to take part in all the great festivities. Please check out our photographers view of the entire event which included great craft beer and delicious craft foods. Enjoy!

Local breweries partnered with Slater’s 50/50 to raise money for The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. Since 1982, PCRF has raised over $30 million for cutting edge pediatric cancer research, which has led to continuing improvements in the care, quality of life and survival rates of children with malignant diseases.

Some of the incredible breweries that took part in the festivities included Ritual, Bootleggers, Hangar 24, Rough Draft, Ballast Point, El Segundo, Golden Road, Fireman’s Brew, Deschutes, Cismontane, Latitude 33, Valiant, Taps, Ohana, Allagash, and Old Orange. All of which were serving samplers of some of their very best brews.

Being washed down by these wonderful beers, was some of Slater’s very own food offerings. Slater’s 50/50 was slinging their B’B’B’ Bacon Burger, A 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon patty, topped with avocado mash, pepper jack cheese, chipotle adobo mayo and a sunny side up egg. You could also get a plate of their Buffalo Mac and Cheese. Three cheese alfredo with buffalo chicken topped with blue cheese and toasted Cheez-It crust. Yes, I said Cheez-Its crust. Don’t forget the bacon chocolate cake. How could we forget that?

A very special treat for festival-goers was thanks to Chapter One The Modern Table. Serving up Jerked Salmon Nachos, which consisted of smoked jerk style salmon on a crispy wonton topped with citrus sour cream and tobiko caviar. As well as a Scotch Egg offering – a hard-boiled egg in sage spiced ground turkey, panko crust and served with Chinese mustard mango sauce.

It was a great day to join together and fight childhood cancer, all while enjoying craft beer and food perfection. Please enjoy our photographers view of the event below. Photos taken by Bradly James Donahue for Three B Zine. TBZ!
