SAN DIEGO, CA – Due to the forecasted rainstorms moving into the region the San Diego Music Foundation has postponed the 23rd Annual San Diego Music Awards from Wednesday, October 9th to Wednesday, October 16th. “For the comfort and safety of the attendees and performers, we have made the decision to postpone the event for the first time in its 23 year history” said San Diego Music Foundation Board President Kevin Hellman.

All tickets for the original date will be honored and the scheduled performers, Sara Watkins, Tristan Prettyman, Sara Petite, Blackout Party, The Palace Ballroom and Lifetime Achievement winner Daniel Jackson, will appear on the new date. Previously scheduled performers The Heavy Guilt will be unable to make the new date due to their tour schedule.

The San Diego Music Awards is a fundraiser for The Guitars for Schools Program, developed by the San Diego Music Foundation and Taylor Guitars to introduce the guitar to public elementary, middle, and high school music curriculum in San Diego County, both as a way to augment existing programs and to offset the loss of arts instruction due to budget cuts. The guitar’s familiarity and popularity among young people makes it an excellent tool for getting them interested in music, and in performing arts in general. Over its 20+ year history, the organization has served over 45,000 K-8 students in more than 70 schools from Chula Vista to Fallbrook.
