This week we sit down with the people behind the great new brewery in Carlsbad – Burgeon Beer Co.! Learn all about Matthew, Anthony and Derek’s journey into the world of San Diego beer and how each of them found themselves in the world of craft beer, leading up to opening the doors to their own brewery. Hear about how they found their home in Carlsbad and the struggle in finding their official location, we discuss the struggle for breweries in general in North County, plus hear about their branding and tasting room and how it all came to life. We also taste and break down some of the beers available at the brewery and hear the thought and approach going into each beer plus details on the production including using different yeasts for different beers and hop usage, including a new (to us) hop variety coming in one of their Grand Opening beers. Plus, we break down all the great things coming for their Grand Opening party and some speciality one off beers including a coconut stout, coffee stout and espresso vanilla imperial stout, which we sample live on the show. Also, hear about some of the other great things coming in 2017 from Burgeon Beer Co including some awesome collaborations with some other local breweries, getting their beer into beer bars both in North County and into San Diego.
